Brewing the perfect cup
Most of our tea travellers brew the tea the way that their grandmother or familial community does or by the first cup of tea that interested them. Today, with increasing availability of leaf tea from all over the world, of every type of tea manufacturer known, and with varying sizes of leaf in each style, a specific explanation of brewing methodology is required for those who want to brew with precision. At Great Tea Street, we have tested each of our teas and have prescribed our favourite brewing instruction using the Western and Gong Fu method. However, we will not restrict these instructions to prevail your tea explorers’ side and welcome to try the best brew that suits your pallet.
We recommend our tea travellers to brew our teas using fresh, pure water. This maybe your tap water filtered or bottled spring water. If you are purchasing bottled water, you should be certain that it is truly spring water. All spring water sold in the UK and EU must have the source of the water identified on the label.
The brewed tea is 99 percent water, so it is odour free and untreated as possible. Lu Yu, the Chinese tea scholar, recommended that his Chinese counterparts use water from a spring in the same region from which the tea they were brewing was grown. Of course, it is not practical for most of us, although it is a delightful objective when you are tea travelling.
